Our Story
Fatima's family kitchen.
Dabakh is a family restaurant, run by owner Fatima Gueye. For more than 14 years the Gueye family has been cooking Senegalese food for Columbus, the way it is cooked at home.
From Refugee Rd to Cleveland Ave.
We started on Refugee Rd, moved to Morse Rd, and today you will find us on Cleveland Ave. Same family, same recipes.
Ceebu jen, the national dish.
Our most popular plate is ceebu jen, Senegal's national dish, also called jollof rice and fish. Broken rice cooked with carrots, cassava and cabbage, served with red snapper. Order it white or red.
Made the slow way.
Our dibi lamb is seasoned and goes on the grill when you order it. Mafe is a thick peanut stew over rice. Some stews only cook on their day, so check "Cooking today" at the top of the page. Wash it down with homemade ginger juice, bissap or bouye.
Teranga.
In Senegal, teranga means hospitality: big plates, and nobody leaves hungry. Many of our guests take their food home, the way a lot of West African families like to eat. If Senegalese food is new to you, just ask. We are happy to help you pick.
